EFSP Phase 37 & CARES Application

$144,757 to be Awarded to Nonprofit Organizations that Administer Emergency Food and Shelter Programs & CARES Supplemental Programs in Crisp, Dougherty, Mitchell, & Worth Counties

 

United Way of Southwest Georgia has been appointed administrator of $144,757 for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) and the appropriated supplemental funds under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) / Federal Emergency Management Agency. 

 

$18,756 is available to Crisp County, $88,760 to Dougherty, $20,073 to Mitchell and $17,168 Worth County to private voluntary nonprofits, faith-based or local units of government.  With a board comprised of local community leaders, United Way of Southwest Georgia will determine funding allocation through a competitive application process.  

 

Under the terms of the grant, local agencies that are chosen to receive funds must be private voluntary nonprofits, faith-based or local units of government; be eligible to receive federal funds; have an accounting system; practice nondiscrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and if they are a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.

 

Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local organizations chosen to receive funds for mass shelter, mass feeding, other food, temporary lodging, rent/mortgage assistance and utility assistance must meet the following criteria:

  1. have non-profit status
  2. maintain an accounting system
  3. practice non-discrimination
  4. demonstrate the capacity to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs
  5. have a voluntary board (if the agency is a private voluntary organization)

 

To apply for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds, please complete each section of application form in link below. This form must be RECEIVED by Friday, May 22, 2020 at 5:00 pm.  Applications received after this deadline date will not be considered for funding.
