AARC (Albany Advocacy Resource Center)

AARC promotes the general welfare of citizens and works to prevent mental retardation in unborn children. Its services are case management, residential, preschool care, supportive employment and summer enrichment for special education students, and a senior day program.

AGILIS

A support organization for Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-anon and Narcotics Anonymous. Serves as a meeting place for these programs. Also provides substance abuse education for the community.

Sponsored by SOWEGA Council on Aging, residents of Dougherty, Lee and other Southwest Georgia counties over the age of 60 with physical or mental impairment receive hot, home-delivered meals.

AMERICAN RED CROSS

This agency meets the needs of disaster victims and provides an emergency communications network for Armed Forces members and their families. Red Cross saves lives by supplying a safe blood supply, teaching life saving skills in first aid, CPR, water safety, HIV/AIDS education, and much more.

BOY SCOUTS OF SOUTHWEST GEORGIA

Scouting is “Ethics in Action” and is one of the few youth programs in America that continues to prepare today’s young people through its high ideals.

THE BRIDGE

The Bridge provides abused children a nurturing environment and a secure place to live while the best available home is found for them, or until their own home life stabilizes enough that they can return.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)
Trains volunteers to help abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system. Works in conjunction with the Department of Family and Children Services and the Dougherty County Judicial Circuit.

To provide the best non-profit community service, dedicated to delivering professional and confidential counseling, debt management and consumer credit education to all segments of the community, regardless of ability to pay.

CRISP COUNTY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

CRISP COUNTY DFACS PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE PROGRAM

Program helps individuals who have no other resources to obtain needed medications until they can find other resources to assist them.

Sponsored by Middle Flint Council on Aging, this program provides one hot, nutritious meal 5 days a week for homebound elderly in economic, social, or medical need.

CRISP REGIONAL HOSPICE

A concept of care designed to help persons with terminal illness live more comfortably and fully until death. Trained volunteers provide 24-hour, 7 days a week assistance to the terminally ill and their families.

DOUGHERTY COUNTY EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM

The goals of this program are to provide participants with quality, well-supervised after school activities, which stimulate new interests, increase knowledge in the humanities, and encourage creativity.

EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN GEORGIA

Provides an array of programs and services to children and adults with disabilities in a 40-county area. Among these are independent living, respite care and family support, youth leadership/prevention initiatives and summer camp.

FAITH COMMUNITY OUTREACH CENTER

FCOC is aimed at encouraging and preventing those who are at risk from falling into negative situations. Serving as a shelter for the homeless, providing substance abuse programs, personal development and hot meals during the day.

FOOD BANK OF SOUTHWEST GEORGIA

This is a part of America’s Second Harvest, but is governed by an autonomous board of directors composed of local individuals. Its mission is to eliminate hunger in a poverty-ridden 20 county region of Georgia.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program, sponsored by SOWEGA Council on Aging, is about people helping people, volunteers sharing the skills of a lifetime. A demonstration of what happens when older adults have the opportunity to participate, and what can happen when public need, public support, and senior volunteers are joined in a partnership.

The USO’s mission is to provide morale, welfare and recreational type services to uniformed military personnel. It is chartered by the Congress as a non-profit charitable corporation and it is endorsed by the President of the United States and Department of Defense.
